Cover PageEdit

Kei Kurono and Hiroto Sakurai are seen in their Gantz suits in the Tokyo Room, surrounded by the silhouettes of other future hunters, also.

SynopsisEdit

The chapter begins with Sakata Kenzo teaching Hiroto Sakurai how to train to use his powers. He first tells him that he will be able to move the after-image of a lighter flame freely but that he should practice how to move dust particles first. He says that he should be able to do it in two days, which shocks Hiroto before Sakata states that he has already given him his powers by modifying a part of his brain while leaving the rest in tact. He then tells Hiroto that he has already seen Sakata's powers first hand, and thus should throw away any traditional concept of viewing things, and he leaves telling Hiroto to think that he can do it, not that he can't. Hiroto is then left alone to ponder Sakata's words.

Hiroto is then seen practising moving the flame alone in his room, his mother shouting to him and stating that it is dark out already. Hiroto sees and feels the flame move for a moment, which excites him, and soon after he is freely able to manipulate the flames after image, twirling it around his finger and laughing in excitement. He celebrates briefly before moving on to the next step, manipulating dust particles to move through his fingers, and does so successfully on his first try.

Hiroto calls up Sakata to tell him so, stating it only took him seven hours, and when he asks Sakata what he should do next, Sakata tells him to exercise his powers like a muscle, practising on lighter objects in order to make them stronger by morning. Hiroto does so, initially using a tissue before moving onto the string suspended toys above his head and his clock by morning. The chapter ends with Hiroto destroying an eraser using his powers, his nose bleeding slightly, and pondering on the words Sakata said earlier, that his life will change for the better.
