Reasons for this wiki[]
Adding back some things taken out of the article with one editor decided that it was too long, so that 90% had to be removed. I tried reverting her edits then, no one else around to post their comments, so I asked for a third party. The two guys that wandered in agreed that the article was too long, but didn't comment on what was being taken out. Anyway, the Wikia thing is about putting whatever you want, without anyone complaining its too long, so I'll put all the stuff back here. That includes the longer character lists, my Aspects of the Game section, all the Cultural References, or Trivia as some call them, and I'll copy over the Gantz Equipment page I created on the wikipedia as well, since knowing the gear is crucial to understanding the series. Don't ever hesitate to post your opinions, and mention if you are fan of the manga series, or if you haven't read much of it yet. I'm curious how much the article appeals to both groups of people. Dream Focus 16:05, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- I put the Trivia on its own page, as well as some other stuff. Should Aspects of the Game be its own page? I don't care how long the page is, it not bothering me, but I'm not sure if its easier to read for some people if its sorted out differently. Please give your opinions. Dream Focus 16:36, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Why is the mainpage looking like a wikipedia article and not a main navigation page? the current Gantz page needs moved to something else, and your great work at building a Gantz page here on the main page needs moved to Gantz, and a proper mainpage needs installed here. --Uberfuzzy 00:14, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
- That should be forwarded to the main page. No information on there isn't found elsewhere. Dream Focus 00:21, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
blank spaces at the top of the article[]
Why are there several blank white spaces at the top of the article? Why does that keep showing up? Its only on this page. Dream Focus 00:16, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
- I dont know, i've seen that before, it might be something in the way the page gets transfered to the server during save, it should be fine to ignore, as the wiki engine trims off extra newlines at the top and bottom of articles when it turned it into the html viewed page --Uberfuzzy 02:03, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
How to list the characters[]
There is a long character's list that list every single character that ever appeared http://gantz.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Gantz_Characters, including some I don't recall ever reading. That is hard to get through. So I'm going to create a page for the main characters with brief summaries, and people can then click on their names to see articles based on those individual characters. One page for list for every hunter ever in the game, one list for every enemy and target. I need to rename http://gantz.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Gantz_characters (note the c isn't capitalized, there two different pages) to List_of_Gantz_Hunters. How do I do that? Dream Focus 00:40, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
- If the page is not move protected, there will be a "Move" button at the top, near the edit button, you use the to "move" the page to a new name. --Uberfuzzy 02:03, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
- Doh! Why didn't I notice that before? I just got the Voltron wiki created, and was working on that. I plan on doing some work on Gantz wiki as well. No one else seems to edit things here. Dream Focus 02:17, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
What do you think this wiki needs?[]
- Pictures of all the targets as well as the characters that don't have one yet
- The List of Gantz Hunters at each mission perhaps listing how many died before the end of that mission, how many points they got, and when 100 points were gotten what they used them on, as well as the nicknames Gantz gave them.
- More people talking on the discussion pages so we can figure out what else the wiki needs
That's all I can think of right now. Please post anything that comes to your mind.Dream Focus 20:48, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
How about battle summaries?[]
While posting over at a forum to try to get some additional participating here, I thought of something else we could use. I'll just copy that bit of my post over here:
I'm thinking if someone could put a play by play for the missions, that would be interesting. When looking for the page the range of the rifles was mentioned, I found that one of the two statue aliens outside was put down by the sniper, from a rooftop, after it chased them inside. I had forgotten who had done what. Someone with better memory than me, or who has read it recently, could add that in. It is interesting to note that even though some of them knew they needed points, they didn't try to finish off the enemy, it sometimes someone else coming along and shooting at it when it was done and injured. Dream Focus 12:01, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Penis enlargement ads on this wiki[]
What the hell is going on here folks? They are rather graphic aren't they? Have a little decency! I'm hoping these ads on just on series like Gantz, which no children should be watching do to the sex and gory violence, and not on wikias that actually have a large child audience. They are disturbing enough for adults. Dream Focus 04:06, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
About the Current Events section[]
We can't talk about the current issue, above the plot explaining what the series is about. I moved that to the bottom of the page for now. I'm thinking we need a list of all events perhaps, and a mission summary. Have an outline of what happened, brief summary, and then click on something for a detailed story. Instead of just linking to the chapter list on the official wikipedia. Sound good? Dream Focus 04:15, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- Do we know this is the Final Arc? Everyone seems to think so, but has there been any official world? Maybe after the end of the world, something else happens. You don't retire from a series this popular, so surely he'll drag it on as long as he can. Dream Focus 04:21, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- We don't know if this is the Final Arc. Heck, we don't even know if this is the end of the world, it's just what Nishi thinks. But in my opinion, the manga is close to ending. -- Raikon 00:27, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- Or it could just be the beginning. Have a post-apocalyptic world, where the aliens pour out everywhere, and people are forced to fight nonstop against them. Have the remaining survivors of humanity band together, and various ones chosen to protect against any aliens that are detected appearing nearby, as well as going out to wipe out any existing nest as they are able. Current Events section moved[]
The information that was there was copied over to Italian mission in its entirety. For those who want to read about the various things going on, instead of the chapter by chapter method you have on the official wikipedia for it, I have a section for that created and now linked to. Official link to Gantz wiki on Wikipedia article[]
Two people want it there, three are currently against. [1] If you believe this wikia qualifies as a valid external link, please go there and state so. Dream Focus 18:56, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
The description at the top of the browser[]
I just noticed that the top of my browser says "Gantz Wiki - Reika, Kei, Manga". Why is that? Is that what most people search for? I'd think they'd search for "Kurono" more than "Kei", since everyone in the manga and anime and fan sites refer to him as Kurono. Is that automatic, or does someone put that up there? Dream Focus 11:12, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Found Gantz avatars which would be perfect for articles[]
http://test.gantzotaku.com/galerie/displayimage.php?album=33&pos=40 There are even some of the Osaka team. Since avatars are made for anyone to use in forums and blogs, I doubt the guy will care if they are used in this wikia. Also, its just pictures from the manga, which someone took the time to crop a proper size, and type in the name of the person. Dream Focus 15:26, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Fixed catagory problem[]
I asked on the official Wikia boards about the noinclude crap, and found out what caused it and how to turn it off. Shouldn't have any additional problems now. At least, once we eliminate anywhere those tags are at, they won't reappear again. Dream Focus 03:17, October 2, 2009 (UTC)
Characters listed in the side bar[]
Opinions please. I saw this done elsewhere and thought it might be something cool to have. I added in some of the characters already to test it out, although not in any particular order. Dream Focus 20:55, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
My Home button redirects to main page[]
So that when people Google for Gantz wiki, they click on the link and go to the main page, not the My Home page. The only way to do it was a redirect. No one ever uses the My Home page anyway, since its the same as clicking the contribution pages, it just listing all the recent things done. Dream Focus 18:41, June 28, 2010 (UTC)
- I would like to point out that most people who find this site through google are unregistered users, and they wouldn't see the MyHome page anyway.
- If you really want to disable the redirect to MyHome there is a much better, cleaner way to do it- one that will give users the ability to re-enable it if they want. This is how it was done on The Vault. You just add the following to MediaWiki:Common.js (and replace what is currently there):
/* Disable redirect to MyHome (code by Ciencia Al Poder) */ if( skin == 'monaco' && wgNamespaceNumber == -1 && wgCanonicalSpecialPageName == 'MyHome' && window.location.toString().indexOf('redirect=no') == -1 ) { window.location = wgServer + wgArticlePath.replace('$1',(window.wgMainpage||window.wgMainPageTitle)); } function alterMyHomeLink(link) { if (link != null && link != undefined) { if (link.href.indexOf('/wiki/Special:MyHome') > -1) { link.href = link.href + "?redirect=no"; } } } function replaceMyHomeLinks() { var MyHomeButtons; var MyHomeTab; var MyHomeWidget = document.getElementById("community-widget-action-button"); alterMyHomeLink(MyHomeWidget); var myHomeDiv = document.getElementById("header_myhome"); if(typeof myHomeDiv!="undefined") { var MyHomeHeader = document.getElementById("header_myhome").getElementsByTagName("a")[0]; alterMyHomeLink(MyHomeHeader); if (wgNamespaceNumber == -1 && wgCanonicalSpecialPageName == 'MyHome') { // MyHomeButtons = document.getElementById("myhome-feed-switch").getElementsByTagName("a")[0]; // alterMyHomeLink(MyHomeButtons); } if (wgNamespaceNumber == 2 || wgNamespaceNumber == 3 || wgNamespaceNumber == 500 || wgCanonicalSpecialPageName == 'Contributions') { MyHomeTab = document.getElementById("user_masthead_tabs").getElementsByTagName("li")[0].getElementsByTagName("a")[0]; alterMyHomeLink(MyHomeTab); } } } if (skin == 'monaco' && wgUserName != null) { addOnloadHook (replaceMyHomeLinks); }

- I have this on my watch list, but it never emails me changes on talk pages, only articles. Anyway, thanks! I just copy and pasted that over. Seems to work the same way, I seeing no difference between the methods at all. Dream Focus 14:43, July 3, 2010 (UTC)
- There are several differences actually:
- Clicking the "My Home" link at the top right corner of a page now will take a person to the My Home page, but clicking "My Home" on the tabs will take a person to the main page.
- If you look in the "Misc" part of your preferences you will see an option for "Disable my redirect to My Home." Putting a checkmark next to this will disable the redirect to the main page for you.
- Also, before when you redirected people to the main page, clicking a link to My Home would load the My Home page partially and then switch to loading the main page. Thus, it was less efficient. Now the redirect happens quicker and does not waste time loading the first page.

Age of characters[]
Is the age of the characters actually listed anywhere? I look through the character entries in the Gantz Manual, and they aren't there. We know most of them are in high school, except Nishi who is younger, but that's it. Dream Focus 16:53, August 30, 2010 (UTC)
articles[]
Has anyone noticed that some anonymous user has gone and desicrated some of the articles on this site? ... 09:50, March 28, 2011 (UTC)
- I reverted all of their edits. I also gave you and others the "rollback" ability. It allows you to undo all the edits of the last person who edited, which is faster and better than just clicking undo a few times. I blocked the IP that had done the vandalism. Dream Focus 11:31, March 28, 2011 (UTC)
Timeline?[]
I don't see any timeline, chronology order of the events. It would be great to have one, IMHO, since sometimes some chapters take up weeks, but nowadays (ch300+) they cover only hours. So yb making one, it could clear the confusions.
Any idea how to begin? Rdn567 12:19, January 29, 2012 (UTC)
- List of Gantz Hunters at each mission list the order of the missions and shows who was there for each one, etc. I started to make a page like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Gantz_chapters at List of Gantz chapters thinking to use that to start with and then edit it, but decided there was no real point if someone had already done that on Wikipedia. Also hard to get everything to line up. Some chapters have their own articles about them already. Dream Focus 18:37, January 29, 2012 (UTC)
- I've began rereading the manga.. but its not easy to bet when each event happens. Luckyly somebody mentioned that there is already a timeline in the Gantz Manual --- though its only 'till the Tae hunt, and in japanese (i dont know if the gantz manual remix goes further). He also mentions that this timeline is translated on gantzotaku.com. (their english version isnt availbe directly, so here is the link http://gantzotaku.com/dossier-chrono.en.2.html ) Difference is, that the manual only says that the story happens in year 200x,200x+1, while they wrote 2000,2001 -- but if we see the katastrophe storyline there are mentioned 2009 dates..
- Anyway, if you also think its somewhat useful, i think it could have a section in the wiki. // Rdn567 11:57, February 5, 2012 (UTC)
Arc's and Sagas discussion[]
Intro
I just joined this wikia as an editor, but I am however not a newbie to editing, though I am pretty new at working as an editor on wikias. Now that I have that out of the way I'd like to start the discussion about the arcs and the sagas of Gantz. I personnally feel the need to make them after everybody who is active here has agreed to them, I will now first focus on the sagas and after those are diceded upon I will edit this page to include examples of how to do the arcs so to start here are my two example for how the sagas can be done.
The Sagas
To me the story can be divided into three or four clear cut saga's
example with three saga's:
First the Kei, Kei and Kato Saga (chapter 001-chapter 090)
Second the Izumi Saga (chapter 090-chapter 237)
Third the Alien Invasion Saga (chapter 238-current )
example with four saga's:
First the Kei, Kei and Kato Saga (chapter 001-chapter 090)
Second the Izumi Saga (chapter 090-chapter 237)
Third the Osaka Team Saga (chapter 238-300 )
Fourth the Alien Invasion Saga (chapter 301-current)
Please respond to this topic with your opinion on which of the two it should be. —Preceding unsigned comment added by OnePieceNation (talk • contribs)
- Do you mean story archs? You can list which chapters are in each arch. Do you want to list what happens between missions somewhere? What would Kei, Kei and Kato be? You can also summarize what happened in each collected volume. Create a new page for whatever you have on mind, get it started, and then you can ask people what they think. Dream Focus 20:27, February 26, 2012 (UTC)
- added which chapters those sagas would cover, rember a saga covers several arcs meaning the kei, kei and kurono saga would cover, the onion alien mission, the tanaka alien mission and the budha temple mission. The saga pages I want to create will cover the parts in between the missions. After I am done with making character pages I will start with making pages for the sagas, it might be best to discuss things there when the time comes. (OnePieceNation 18:19, February 27, 2012 (UTC))
- As I'm aware of, the story was already divided officially in a kind of way. Although its almost the same as your first example: First phase (ends with Kei's death, ch237), Second phase (238-303) and Final phase (around alien invasion). There was also a division by the color of the volumes.
- (Imho the 1st phase could be divided to two parts, as you did). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rdn567 (talk • contribs)
Anyone know why pictures load up differently now when you click on them?[]
Clicking on any picture will bring you to a scrollable gallery, instead of just loading up that one image full screen like on other wikias. Anyone know why that is or how to change it back? Dream Focus 09:07, July 23, 2012 (UTC)
All I know is that all wiki's seem to have it, I haven't been able to turn it off on other wiki's either. Try asking about it here http://community.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Meighan/Introducing_the_Admin_Support_Team?s=wl#article-comments I will ask about it in other places.. Design & Layout[]
Hi, I notice that the layout is like a W:-) ikipedia article, is it meant to be that way(want it that way) or you don't really want to bother about the interactive layout/design? Anyway, I've uploaded a wordmark for this wiki at the photo's area. Not sure if the admin might want to use it or not, just did a simple title for the wiki. It's set on transparent background so no worries about the background colour and such. ^^ -- Koosha (talk) 06:42, August 27, 2013 (UTC)
Dream Focus-san basically started this wiki all alone. without any help he did this by copying all the wikipedia articles about Gantz to the wikia, most of those articles on wikipedia he actually worked on/made himself. Everything else was created by him and a dozen others who came and went over time. I came to this wikia right after watching the anime on 20 February 2012 and I started with creating pages for the filler characters who patricipated in the Kill Kei Kurono Mission. The I started putting in galleries and adding categories. And then I moved on to my first real major job on here, creating episodes pages for all the episodes and then I was done, not just with this wikia but with wikia in general. But I did keep on reading Gantz and I read Gantz 10 chapters at a time, so everytime when 10 new chapters were out, I would read them in one go and the end took me by surprise. It suddenly ended and now I have come back to finish this wikia and after having done a few edits I asked Dream Focus-san if he could make me an admin and he and so far as an admin I have first redone the blue navigation bar at the top of the page and for the rest I am jumping around from one big task to another while slowly working on the chapter pages during which I have created, arc, mission, phase and alien pages and also a bunch of tough to make templates. Now as it comes to the main page, which as far as I know can only be edited by Admins, I have told Dream Focus-san that we actually need a better main page and I now intend to make one after all the other big tasks are done. I have a list of things that still need to be done on my profile page any assistance with these tasks is greatly appreciated. However if you want you can create a main page similar to the ones found on the one piece, naruto and hunter x hunter wikia by creating a Sandbox for it (look up online how to create a sandbox because I hate making them and partially forgot how to, I got the same thing with templates if I don't make one every half year I forget how to). I hope I have informed you enough.

- Hi ^^ thx for the info. I'll c wat I can help out with =) - Koosha (talk) 11:12, August 28, 2013 (UTC)

- I uploaded your wordmark. Thanks. I was upset that information kept being removed from the Wikipedia article for Gantz, and when I made a side article to hold all the information about the equipment people kept erasing from the main page, it got deleted. So I copied all the information over here from the Gantz article, the equipment page article, and the episode and manga list which never imported properly, and the character list article. Everything else was made over here first. Most of the main page was made here of course. Anyway, I had to protect the main page back in April of this year, do to increase vandalism on the wiki. Having pictures to click on for the main page, like at my Taylor Swift Wiki would work out great I think. Suggestions always welcomed. Dream Focus 20:48, August 28, 2013 (UTC)
Hi, no problem, it's nothing. Glad it could b of use ^^ - Koosha (talk) 10:47, August 29, 2013 (UTC)
New main page changes[]
Do not revert me and put that back up again until we discuss it. I have already mentioned problems with it. The point of a main page is to grab the attention of someone just coming in, explain what the series is, and most importantly of all, link them to different information on the wikia. Notice what we currently link to. Information about the series, aspects of the mission, how Gantz is made, equipment, etc. Manga, Anime, light novels, manual, films, video game, Merchandise/toys. Characters, missions, trivia. We need these things. Having a picture instead of just a link is fine. We need pictures from the manga itself though, not horrible looking fan art. And we don't need to waste a lot of space on the right side showing unrelated anime/manga. The affiliated sites thing at the bottom for related series works out fine. The how to edit box seems like a waste of space. Not a lot of things new articles can be made about. They can see the edit button on all existing ones. Dream Focus 16:53, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
October Update[]
- The character pictures make the series childish to any first time visitor who is just checking it out, not knowing what its about yet. We have better images of them to use.
- You don't list the films at all. It should list all the publications together: the manga, light novels, manual, etc. Then it should list the anime, films, games, and merchandising links together after that.
- You link to a page called Aliens you made today which has nothing at all in it.
- You link to a page called Phases which is also empty. Isn't that the same as story arcs? Why have a second page for the same content? Dream Focus 21:52, October 11, 2013 (UTC)
Response[]
- 1 The first images someone sees on the wiki are those of the slider, two of which are extremely action packed. Now the next thing they see are the Welcome and About sections. Then people see the childish portraits of the characters which immediatly sets and interesting stark contrast, that will pull people in to see what this is all about. Especially when the scroll down and see the diversity of the series and those strange looking weapons.
- 2 Sorry this is obviously an oversight on my part, I was sure I had everything. The films will be added as soon as I am done writing this.
- 3 and 4 Obviously it currently hasn't anything in it and I can spend (waste?) my time only once. Don't worry within a week the alien page will be filled in and within 2 to 3 weeks the Phases page. You should know by now that I will always go back to a page to fill it in. Creating pages is easy, filling them in takes time and plenty of it. Also when it comes to arcs and the phase the make up and the textual contents will be when done be significantly different.~
Have a little bit more patience and faith in me, can't you see I have been working very hard on creating this main page and expanding the wiki? OnePieceNation (talk) 23:00, October 11, 2013 (UTC)
- You could've created a draft beforehand and discussed it. If you don't have anything but a blank page to link to, then link to a full one instead. Instead of aliens, go to Gantz targets instead you have something else to show people. A page with a picture of all the types of aliens and linking to those mission pages might be interesting to people. Also problems with what you link to. In the info box on the right it links to Gantz which is not about the series but the character now. Clicking on the link to manga doesn't show you anything about the Gantz manga at all, it just a page that linked back to the proper section on the old main page. I'm going to go fix that now. Always check your links before changing things. Dream Focus 00:08, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
- The Featured Article shows a worthless character who never did much of anything, found only in the anime. Need to change that so it only links to interesting characters.
- All eight of the publications are listed at manga. Don't need a picture of the manual on the main page since the link to it shows only a very brief article. I'm thinking all publications could be linked to at once. Or just have a section called Publications and a picture and link to all eight things I suppose. Dream Focus 00:29, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
- There is no link to the anime. It may have been pretty bad compared to the awesome manga, but we can't just forget it existed. Dream Focus 00:32, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
In reversed order. 1 The slider links to the anime.2 I already planned to update that Manga page since it is very small and it should have an overview of the entire mange and quick descriptions and links to the other gantz publications. 3 The featured article I have just chosen by clicking the random page button at the top navigation, we can further discuss which things are suitable to feature and which not. 4 I hate creating sandboxes and I already drew many potential main page drafts in word on my computer. 5 the gantz targets page is also very incomplete which is not much better and has now been added on my extremely long to do list 6 I will eventually make templates for all the aliens (I can now only make them for the first two groups of aliens) 7 with many links on one page and much stuff to link to it is easy to accidentally forget something in your linking and creating process, that is why a wiki cannot be run and maintained by one person and it is great there a two of us, even if you are a little bit to strict to my liking.
Again please be patient.
The first five pages I will be making/updating/filling in are :
- Giant Aliens
- God Aliens
- Aliens
- Manga
- Phases
So please be patient man. OnePieceNation (talk) 00:58, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
- Where you say MOST POPULAR CONTENT, how is that determined? The function Most_visited_articles hasn't worked for years now. When you search for anything, it shows you "Top pages" on the right side, that including Sei Sakuraoka on the list. I think just removing that and just saying Main Characters, About, or whatever, is fine. Dream Focus 00:28, October 14, 2013 (UTC)
